The Soccer Season comes into its final phase
The hot phase of the 2014/15 soccer season has already started! Soccer fans all over the world get excited about their favourite teams. Will they succeed? Will they raise the trophy everyone is hoping for? Will they be the best? The excitement of Reusch as a passionate soccer brand is of course growing as well. Having top Reusch goalkeepers in nearly every important soccer-league all over the world, the expectations are obviously high – and it looks like these expectations will be fulfilled once more by our great sponsoring partners!
Most European leagues have already come to their final month. Some, like the German Bundesliga or the Dutch Eredivisie, are already decided, but the leagues in the most countries are as thrilling as ever.
Salvatore Sirigu (ITA) and his team Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are having an outstanding season. They have not only reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, but are also the top French soccer team. PSG is currently in first place of the national Ligue 1 with only four matches missing – the title is close! Sirigu and his teammates have already won the Coupe de la Ligue trophy with a 4:0 final victory over SC Bastia. Also a third trophy is possible: PSG has reached the final of the Coupe de France, where they will encounter AJ Auxerre (30/05/2015).
Reusch legend Julio César (BRA), who plays for the Portuguese champion Benfica Lisbon, is close to be crowned as national champion once more. Benfica leads the table three points ahead of FC Porto. There are only four more matches to be played. Furthermore Benfica has also reached the final of the Taca de la Liga (League Cup), where the team will play against CS Maritima on May 28, 2015.
Uruguayan Reusch goalie Fernando Muslera has really good chances to become Turkish champion! His team Galatasaray Istanbul is having a three-way fight with two other top teams from Istanbul (Fenerbahce and Besiktas) to be crowned as champion. There are still six matches missing and all three teams are on top, being divided by only one point. Galatasaray is also playing the semi-finals of the Türkiye Kupasi (National Cup), where they will play against Sivasspor (30/04/2015).
Gorka Iraizoz (ESP) from Athletic Bilbao has reached the final of the important Spanish Copa del Rey. His team will face the big FC Barcelona on May 30, 2015.
The Mexican Liga MX Clausura is almost over. There are only two match-days missing. Reusch goalie Nahuel Guzmán (ARG) and his team UANL Tigres are in third place but still have the chance to become Mexican champions – they are only one point behind.
In the Argentinian Primera División there are still many matches to be played. The Supercopa Argentina (National Cup) however, has already been decided! Huracán and Reusch goalie Marcos Díaz (ARG) won the final against River Plate (with Marcelo Barovero) and raised the trophy into the night sky of San Juan. Well done!
Successful teams always need good back-up goalies. Maybe they’re not always first choice, but they are there when needed and so also play an important role! Marco Storari (ITA) from Juventus is a good example. Whenever he gets the chance to play, he does a marvellous job! Storari and Juve are in first place of the Serie A and just need a few more points to be officially crowned as new champions, they are standing in the final of the Coppa Italia against Lazio Rome and have reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League (vs. Real Madrid on May 05, 2015). What a season!
Germano Vailati (SUI) from the Swiss top team FC Basel is in first position of the Swiss Super League. Basel lays nine points ahead of their competitors with seven more matches to come.
Legendary Romanian team Steaua Bucuresti and Reusch goalie Florin Nita (ROU) are in top position of the Romanian League with six more matches to be played.
Remko Pasveer (NED) played a good season as back-up keeper for PSV Eindhoven. Two matches before the end of the season PSV has already been crowned as champion of the Dutch Eredivisie.
Let’s all cross fingers for these last weeks of the season – hopefully many trophies can be lifted with Reusch goalkeeper gloves.
