Special 'Blog Shout-Out' to my dear friend and fellow GK, Greg Deutsch who sent me a video of his first lesson at the Cincinnati Trapeze School. Yeah, you read that right....Trapeze School. HWITAT: Greg, who played with me in college, is now an owner at Soccer Village in Cincinnati OH, and is a fine GK trainer to boot; has always been tremendously fit and ever open to new adventures. (i.e., scuba-diving, sky-diving, etc.) Greg found the Trapeze School and decided to give it a try. VERY COOL! Hopefully he will share his video and future videos with us. In speaking with him yesterday, he mentioned similarities of GKing and Trapeze. Lots of 'flying around' in both......watch this blog site for more.
USOC (US Olympic Committee) and US Soccer meeting to discuss the Hope Solo situation. HWITAT: What's to discuss? If the NFL is suspending domestic violence perpetrators, stands to reason that US Soccer should to. #notgoodrolemodel #don'thit #sponsorexodus #sunil, dotherightthing #thereareotherGKsoutthere
Michael Bradley fined for criticism of MLS referees. HWITAT: MLS referees should be fined for atrocious refereeing. Hey Ref, we're not at the MLS game to watch you and your 3 ARs! Do your job, make the right call, and silently go away. Stop detracting from the game with bad calls, and drawing attention to yourselves. Unfortunately, Michael Bradley is correct.
College Soccer enters middle-of-the-season. HWITAT: If there is college soccer near you this weekend, go out and watch some games. If you are a GK, watch and study the GKs. Both Men's and Women's College Soccer offer an entertaining and educational experience for young players. Take advantage of college soccer near you, and support the game!
Watch this Space for '3OldGoalies' podcast, coming in October. HWITAT: I am teaming with 2 great friends to put together a weekly podcast hosted by yours truly, Greg Deutsch and John Boa. (3 Old Goalies) We'll take an interesting, irreverent, insightful, and sometimes inspirational look at soccer/football across the globe, and give you the opinions and ideas of 3 sort-of 'regular soccer guys'. Should be interesting, will definitely be entertaining.
Have a great weekend, and may the ground beneath your dive be soft, may the other team shoot right at you, and may your goalposts be 3 feet wide!
