Well, 2015 is here and Happy New Year!
Of course the news is that Steven Gerrard from Liverpool will replace Landon Donovan at LA Galaxy this summer. Great! Right?
While Gerrard is a great player and is Captain of All Time at Liverpool and all, is the MLS truly 'ok' with being a sort of 'elephant graveyard' for aging and retiring European players? Here's a question: which player has/had more in the tank as he came to America--David Beckham or Steven Gerrard? An interesting query. I think Beckham. I think Gerrard is very close to hanging 'em up--closer than Beckham was when he came over. What do YOU think? Let me know.
Was watching the FA Cup again yesterday. Truly a brilliant competition. I just don't see why we can't do a similar competition across all levels of soccer here in the US. It can be done--just no one is willing to take it on. C'mon US Soccer! Give us a truly US Open Cup! Again, what do YOU think?
The MLS Collective Bargaining Agreement is coming up. MLS Players Association (Union) vs MLS front office/owners. Will we see a player strike? Will we see a solid CBA put in place? I think we will see a work slowdown--maybe a strike. The perception is that MLS is not yet making money, but they're not far off and the players are growing tired of playing for the proverbial peanuts. It will be interesting to watch. What do YOU think will happen?
Looking for some feedback Blog-lodytes! Lookin' for some feedback.
May the ground beneath your dive be safe. May the other team shoot everything right at you. May your goalposts be 3 feet wide.
All the Best--EV
