Lest we get all excited and think things are back to normal....remember, it was Panama. Not a weakling team, but certainly not a Titan of World Football. Michael Bradley scored a direct corner--really Penedo?--and Dempsey scored an excellent break-away goal, and then we were able to hold on and preserve the 2-0 win. Which is a MUCH improved performance over some of the previous matches. So, continued good luck to the USMNT and let's hope that the trend continues.
MLS is supposed to start on March 6, but in reading the soccer news around the country, the MLS Player's Association and the MLS are far apart on the key issue of the new CBA--Free Agency. The players say they will strike, the MLS says the players won't strike, it will all come down to the wire--as these things always do. Let's hope both sides compromise and that we have MLS soccer come March. We'll see......
The USWNT lost to France 2-0 in a friendly. Not something that we are accustomed to. Hope Solo wasn't playing--remember she's suspended--and or course everyone wanted to blame the loss on that; BUT...we didn't score. If you don't score, you don't win. That's an old soccer saying that I just made up.....
USWNT plays England Friday. Watch this Space.

May the ground beneath you dive be soft. May the other team shoot everything right at you. May your goalposts be 3 feet wide.
