There is LOTS going on.
The USWNT is through to the knock-out round of the Women's World Cup in Canada. It looks like we will play either England or Cameroon. Two should-win games, but in 'one-and-done'......who knows? Good luck to USA!
Clint Dempsey tore up a referees notebook, and of course got red-carded in an US Open Cup match against Portland.
Sort of funny, but Clint might have a suspension--a lengthy suspension--coming at him.
The US Open Cup is gaining momentum each year, but this year seems to be a watershed year in the awareness of this great tournament. Mainly because there are so many Clubs entered--93 I believe--that is GREAT! I would love to see USOC reach the same level of popularity and awareness the FA Cup enjoys. It would really be a good thing for soccer in the US, and it is a showcase for some of the lower tier teams and players!
Some GREAT matches in the Copa America in Chile! If you didn't see Chile v Mexico (3-3); by all means be sure to try and watch it (beIN Sports has it replaying quite often right now)! Great goals, great players, great passion. Tremendously entertaining!
Youth Club try-out days are winding down across the US, and I'm sure that is a relief to many families. It is a hard time for players, coaches, and parents. Players always think they should be put on the better team, parents wonder why is everything so expensive, and is my child progressing according to plan for the soccer scholarship that looms in the future, and coaches are trying to determine the best 22 players to put on their respective teams. If you're a GK, try to play on the worst team possible.....Yep, I said the worst team possible. Getting "shelled" in games is far better for your development as a 'keeper than playing with the best team in your Club. Keep that in mind.
I'm headed out to Denver tomorrow to view our 2016 product range at Reusch. I am really looking forward to it, and I will share what i can in future Blogs. A hint: Orange is the new color!
For a great offering of Reusch GK products be sure to check in often at our website www.reuschusa.com
May the ground beneath your dive be soft. May the forwards hit everything right at you. May your goalposts be 3 feet wide.
All the Best--EV
