Final thoughts on the World Cup, from our partners at Reusch International...
FIFA Soccer World Cup 2014 comes to an End
Reusch at the FIFA Soccer World Cup in Brazil
Creating and developing outstanding goalkeeper equipment is our mission at Reusch. Cooperating with exceptional athletes from all over the world, supporting and celebrating them is our passion! Being a global player in the sports business means always being on the run for innovations and trends. And it also means being passionate for sports, being close to the people and enjoying physical action and mental amazement.
That’s exactly what the FIFA Soccer World Cup 2014 brought to the audience and to the Reusch quarter. A great and exciting soccer party which inspired and motivated us and our visions and made us push even harder to reach the goals we set. Mostly for the German soccer team the 20th World Cup turned out to become the long-desired success. They take home the trophy! As a company with strong German roots we say congratulations to the German team!
So 32 nations came together to fight for the most popular soccer trophy in Brazil. We saw 64 matches and clapped out hands for 171 goals during the whole tournament. 181 yellow cards, 3 yellow-red cards and 7 red cards could not disturb the enthusiastic flow the 3.5 million people in the stadiums felt.
Throughout the entire event brilliant goalkeepers have managed to powerfully affect and change the reputation and image of goalkeeping worldwide. Once again it has been shown that the position of the goalkeeper is absolutely crucial in regards of the course and the results of the matches. Back to Reusch we take a bow to our seven World Cup goalkeepers 2014: César, Muslera, Kwarasey, Dominquez, Sirigu, Andujar and Orion. They made it happen that Reusch gloves have been worn in 16 matches, capturing 7 victories and even entering the semifinal with Brazilian Júlio César who in the end landed on fourth place with his team. Argentina, playing the final against Germany, has been supported by its two reserve goalies and Reusch partners Andujar and Orion.
One month of concentrated soccer power lies behind us, and there are many more passionate soccer events, amazing product innovations and stimulating sports adventures and emotions to come. We can’t wait and say thank you once more for being part of the thrilling soccer world! We’ll see you in Russia for the FIFA Soccer World Cup 2018!
